I am licensed to practice law in Kansas and Missouri.  My practice focuses on Elder Law, Estate Planning and Estate and Trust Administration.  A detailed list of services are listed under the Services tab.

I earned my Bachelor of Science in Business Administration and Juris Doctorate degrees from the University of Kansas in 1978 and 1981. In 2009 I was the third person to earn a Masters in Elder Law from the University of Kansas School of Law.

My legal career began with two Johnson County law firms.  I then practiced law at Levy and Craig, P.C. in Kansas and Missouri until 2001. I concentrated on estate planning, real estate, business and corporate law, mergers and acquisitions, civil litigation and bankruptcy law.  In 2001 I joined a local trust company and became vice president and trust administer.  My responsibilities included reviewing, interpreting and implementing provisions of trusts and wills.  I counseled clients on estate planning matters and made decisions on distributions to trust beneficiaries based on the terms of the trust. I saw which trust provisions were easily administered and which caused difficulties.  I returned to practice law so I could focus on understanding and meeting the legal needs of seniors, their families and those facing estate planning and estate and trust administration issues.  I am now part of the firm of Post Anderson Layton Heffner, LLP.

I have sought to contribute to our community. I was very involved in a local Habitat for Humanity affiliate serving as chairman of the board, on the board of directors and on committees for over ten years.  I was active in Toastmasters clubs for over 15 years, serving as president and other positions. I taught youth Sunday school classes and went on many youth mission trips with my daughter.  While my son was growing up I served as committee chairperson of his Cub Scout pack and Boy Scout troop and participated in the high adventures of Philmont and Sea Base. I currently belong to Church of the Resurrection. I currently volunteer for Hospice, Kansas Elder Law Hotline, Kansas Advocates for Better Care and am currently President of the Kansas Chapter of the National Academy of Elder Law Attorneys.

I am a member of the Kansas and Missouri bar associations, as well as the Johnson County bar association.  I also belong to the National Association of Elder Law Attorneys, and the Missouri and Kansas chapters, and the Kansas City Estate Planning Society.
